Biography

Elizabeth Berkeley, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Neville) Berkeley,^[1] was born about 1498 at Berkeley, Gloucester, England.^[2][3]

About 1522,^[2] Elizabeth married George Herbert,^[1] son of Richard Herbert and Margred Cradock.^[2]

George and Elizabeth (Berkeley) Herbert had sons Mathew and William^[2] and three daughters: Cecily, Catherine, and Margaret.^[4]

• Mathew Herbert, born c 1525; about 1548, Mathew married Mary Gamage, the daughter of Sir Thomas Gamage and Margaret St. John^[5]
• William Herbert, Esq., "2nd son of George Herbert, Knt., of Swansea, Glamorgan, by Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Berkeley, Knt.," married Alice Raglan, widow of William Mathew (d 1550). Alice and William Herbert had one son, George. William Herbert died 1576.^[6]

Elizabeth (Berkeley) Herbert died in England on May 31, 1563.^{[citation needed]}
