Biography

On 6 Apr 1897, Irene Fredericka Bern was born in Nebraska to a father named Emil Bern and a mother named Ada M. Anderson. ^{[1] [2]}

At the time of the 1900 US Census, head of household Emil Burns (age 36, born Oct 1864 in Sweden) was living in Denver, Colorado with his wife Ada Burns (age 32, born Mar 1868 in Sweden), daughter Amy Burns (age 10, born Apr 1890 in NE), son Elmer Burns (age 8, born Jan 1892 in NE), daughter Elvida Burns (age 6, born Mar 1894 in NE), and daughter Irene Burns (age 3, born Apr 1897 in NE). Both of Emil's parents were born in Sweden; Emil immigrated from Sweden to the USA in 1871. Both of Ada's parents were born in Sweden; Ada immigrated from Sweden to the USA in 1872. Emil and Ada married in about 1889. Ada had given birth to four children, all four of whom were still alive at that time. ^[3]

On 12 Jan 1920 at the time of the 1920 US Census, head of household Elmer Bern (age 27, born in NE) was employed as a Farmer on a General Farm and living in a home he rented in Saunders, Nebraska with his sister Irine Bern (age 22, born in NE) and boarder Oscar Torrel (age 26, born in NE).
