Biography

Johann Melchior Berner was born on 21 Feb 1698^[1]. He was the son of Johann Georg Berner and Anna Elisabetha Schmauck^[1]. On 12 Nov 1726 he married Maria Magdalena Rüdtlin ^[3], daughter of Salomon Rüdtlin, a commander in the Suebian District Army ("Schwäbisches Kreisregiment zu Fuss")^[16] , and sister of Maria Margaretha^[2].

Johann Melchior and Maria Magdalena had the following children:

1. Georg Solomon (born 8 Mar 1728^[5]);
2. Johannes (born 13 May 1730^[6]);
3. Anna Elisabetha (born 5 Jul 1732^[7]);
4. Johann Georg (born 21 Nov 1735^[8]);
5. Christoph Friedrich (born 27 Aug 1739^[9]).

After Maria Magdalena's death on 11 Jan 1747^[4], Melchior married Maria Barbara Hartmann, daughter of Johann Georg Hartmann, a wine grower in Hedelfingen near Stuttgart. The wedding took place on 18 Jul 1747 in Hedelfingen^[10].

Johann Melchior and Maria Barbara had the following children:

1. Johann Christoph (born 19 Apr 1748^[11]);
2. Catharina Jacobina (born 11 Apr 1750^[12]);
3. Jacob Heinrich (born 14 Jan 1753^[13]);
4. Anna Barbara (born 10 Jun 1755^[14]).

Johann Melchior passed away on 14 Feb 1763^[15].
