Gee, John, I could never do what you have done! Naturally, there is a lot of overlap between your tree and my Jenny's. Bruce Laidlaw now has most of my Laidlaws linked. I am torn between adding more families and mere number-crunching. The family of David Kersell Laidlaw, who started the "Yakka" brand of work clothing in his mother's garage, has origins in Roxburghshire, but I haven't found a link yet.

Hi John,

My name is Evan Bruce Wait, and I am a direct descendant of Mary Ann Pye and Aldred Richard Wait. My paternal grandfather was Alfred Ernest "Son" Wait, who was the fourth of Aldred and Mary's ten children. I have a reasonable amount of family information which I am only too pleased to share with you. If you wish to contact me directly my email is [email address removed] Best regards, Bruce

Hi John, thank you for your help with the Cashman family tree profiles. It may not be a connected set of profiles but I am endeavouring to excite others connected to the Cashman name to get on board in amassing the information needed to form a view of what branches of the tree that are connected. I appreciate anyone's efforts in this endeavour and wanted to thank you personally so that you know that your efforts are recognised. It is a huge job I have set myself. I found a pile of bits and pieces (abt 14,000 notations) of information 2 years ago, and I have abt another 2 years to go to get through the stack of A4 sheets that contain the information. It is a labour of love and I try to put in at least 1 hour a day minimum doing it. One thing that is slowing things down is how I presented the data in the original profiles. I had no idea how to connect references properly and made a bit of a mess of things. I spend time correcting the profiles structures as they crop up. When I started there were only about 350 Cashman profiles and now there are over 1500 (and still growing).

Regards and all the best to you and your family, Keith Cashman

Hi John

You have added to the profile of Arthur John Luck Coleman (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Coleman-6814) and have attributed a WW2 service history to the profile. Coleman-6814 was born in 1873 and died in 1944. I am confident that the service record you added belongs to a namesake born in 1916 who died in 1989 (NZBDM 1989/33078). I don't know at this stage whether there is a family connection but given the names this seems likely.

Cheers

Ian

John,

I see that you made changes to the profile for Charlotte (Burgess) Dray (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Burgess-2507). What is your source for saying that James Dray married Charlotte Coveney instead of Charlotte Burgess?

I have gone back through both Family Search and Find My Past, and found multiple additional sources for James Dray's marriage to Charlotte Burgess, and none for marriage to Charlotte Coveney. What I DID find is a marriage for Charlotte Coveney and John Maxted in 1810.

Please add your sources.

John is my cousin-in-law. I had better leave this for him to answer, but FreeReg supports you. Doug.

John, I see that you already knew about the Pike family project. I no longer have your drive for genealogy. My wife Jenny is my link to most of Wikitree, at first through the Bernie line, more recently through the Stinsons and Caldwells. Further to Eddie's comment about the time, the list of connected people is updated daily at 09:30 GMT. That is 20:30 AEDT.

Hi John,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Add the project tag to your Following list to be kept up to date on any activity that occurs for that project.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

John, I support your proposed merge with Gaye's Margaret Stinson. I thought that Australia wasn't well represented here, but most of my people are already in your tree, Gaye's and a few others.

Hi

Wish you a Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you all you need to be happy.

Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As we always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.

Thank you for being a Wikitreer,

Guy Constantineau - Wikitree leader

HI,

just a word (late) to congratulate you on the contributions you made during the month of November. Whatever the quantity, they are all important.

Your work is appreciated.

Thanks

How's everything going?

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi John, I see that you just volunteered and signed our honor code. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically significant ancestors? I see you have surnames for tags. Why don't you stop by the One Name Studies project, to see if there's already a name study for (surname) going on? The current leaders for that are Doug Lockwood and Alison Andrus. They would be happy to get you started.

Let me know if you need any help! We're glad to have you on board!!

John –

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering.

Have fun and ask for help in G2G if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist. It’s a fun place too. Take a look at what I mean here, G2G’s Question of the Week: We've all got one - who's YOUR favorite ancestor and why?

If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.
