Birth

Anthony Herman Berning was born in Prussia in 1831 to Henrich Berning and Elisabeth Sandmann.^[1]

Immigration

He immigrated with his parents and siblings to the United States in 1834 ^[2]where they settled in Ohio.

Anthony lived with is parents and sibling in McLean, Shelby County, Ohio^[3]

Marriage

Anthony married Odelia Kemper in Auglaize, Ohio on 20 September 1855. ^[4]

Residence

According to census records, Anthony, Odelia, and their children lived in northwest Ohio. In 1860 they were listed in Auglaize, Ohio^[5] but by 1870 they had moved to Napoleon Ohio. In the 1870 US census he was listed as a shoemaker.^[6]
