DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Julie or other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Julie:
Hi Julie, I see we are 5th cousins. lmk if you do a dna test on Ancestry as we might come up a match. I have attached your gran to the tree so you can tap into longer lines. You should be able to branch out from there. Note that I have recently pushed back through Jane St. Loe, who married James Bennett, merchant of Lisbon and mayor of Salisbury, to ancestor Edward St. Loe whose brother William was married to the famous Bess of Hardwick. Also lots of other interesting ancestors, for example William Bond of Crosby Place, famous in his day, who bought the palace where Richard III once lived. I think you will need to attach your grandmother's children yourself as they don't appear yet.
On James' side you can go back to King John, Edward I, and Owen Glyn Dwr, among others.
Thank you Monica, some very interesting ancestors there. I’m very much a novice at all this and have a lot to learn about source referencing in particular so will need to familiarise myself with the correct protocols. I have done an Ancestry DNA test but can’t see you in my matches.
