Biography

There is a Dorothy Miller's in Gloucester Co., VA and a Dorothy Bohannon in the same county will available at Iberian Publishing Co. (E-book, PDF is $20), order link below. I only know the wills are during the years between 1670 and 1830 (I do not know the years of these Dorothy's wills).

NOTE: It appears the unborn child of Ambrose Bohannon, Sr. mentioned in his will was of the same name as his father, Ambrose Bohannon, Jr.; based on Ambrose Bohannon (Jr.) mentioning his brother, Joseph Bohannon getting Ambrose's [Jr.] estate in Ambrose's [Jr.] will; as well as a Dorothy (Bohannon) Berry / Miller witnessing Ambrose Bohannon Jr.'s will.

Berry is the #242 most common surname in Clan McFarlane in Scotland.

It is possible that Dorothy Berry was Anderson Miller's 2nd wife or Anderson did not marry until he was about 38 years old. There was a Dorothy (Unknown) who had married a John Berry (b- 3/22/1728 Middlesex Co., VA) Abt. 1767. This John Berry is listed as dying in 1773 (a couple years after Anderson married a Dorothy Berry); however I could not see any source noted for his death date on the FamilySearch.org family tree link below. So it is possible that the Dorothy Berry that Anderson married was previously married to John Berry.

Ambrose Bohannon of So. Farnham Par., Essex Co. 24 Feb. 1776. 15 Dec. 1800. Entire Estate to bro. Joseph Bohannon. Wit. Thos Miller, Wm. Miller, Dorothy Miller.

Transcription of Ambrose Bohannon, Jr.'s 1776 will; proved in 1800 (probate 24 years later, maybe a transcription error??) in Middlesex County, Virginia (brief transcription below). "The will of Ambrose Bohannon, of Essex County, dated 2/24/1776, witnesses Thomas Miller, William Miller, Dorothy Miller, proved 12/15/1800, devises all his land to his brother Joseph Bohannon. “

On page 33 of above book:

"(p-38) 16 Feb 1789... John Berry, late Husband of Dorothy Miller (and laid off her third of Stone Point)...195 acres. Adjoins William Jackson and Piankitank River."

This land likely is west of "Stove" Point (have read name Stone Point was later written as Stove Point). I notice there is a "Berryville" Rd. running east/west along the north side of the Piankitank River in this area.

Dorothy and her 2nd husband, Anderson Miller-45048 likely gained ownership of this 195 acres she inherited from her 1st husband around 1789 which is near what is now Deltaville, Virginia.
