Elizabeth was born in 1899. She was the daughter of Joseph Berry and Emily Darby. She married Edmund Dawes and they lived on a farm in Longwarry. They had five children Edmund, Mervyn, Graham, Merle and Darby. She was a foundation member of the CWA and the Red Cross. She was also the Treasurer of the St Thomas' Church Guild for 30 years. After her husband Edmund passed away she moved into Pearson St, Bunyip where she lived until she died. Her son Graham built on the land next door to her and they lived next door for a few years. She passed away in 1988.
