Sarah was in fact the widow of Joseph Clare who died in 1844, her maiden name Wakefield. She had at least 7 children by him.

In 1881 William born in Helsby was 62 married to Sarah 72 born in Lymm and living at Eye Lane Ferry House. Farmer & Ferryman with granddaughter Sarah (9) born in Thelwall.[6][7]
In his book ‘No Mean City’, author Michael Taylor refers to a ferry, known as the Thelwall Manor Ferry, operating from the end of a cobbled street off Eyes Lane, and states that the last Thelwall Manor ferryman was probably called William Berry. [8]
He died 25 Jan 1886 and was buried 28 Jan 1886 All Saints Churchyard, Thelwall, Cheshire. [9]
Probate 10 May 1886 The Will of William Berry late of Thelwall in the county of Chester Farmer who died 25 January 1886 at Thelwall was proved at Chester by Joseph Pixton of Elsmere port in the said county, bookkeeper and Thomas Berry of Hulmes Bridge Lock near Manchester in the county of Lancaster lock-keeper, the son of the executors[10][11]
