Biography

Eli Berry was born in Pennsylvania.

Eli, son of Elias Berry and Anna Mellinger,[1] was born 4 November 1844 in West Manchester Township, York County, Pennsylvania.[1] His parents had him baptized 8 December 1850 at Saint Paul's (Wolf's) Reformed Church in West Manchester Township.[1]

In 1850, four-year-old Eli resided in Paradise Township, York County, with his parents Eli (age 40) and Anna Berry (35), and siblings Mary (17), John (15), Jacob (12), Joseph (8), Elizabeth (5), Amanda (3) and Henry Berry (ten months), as well as Abraham Hekes (25, mason).[2]

In 1860, Eli did not live with his parents and may have worked out.

About 1875, Eli married Elmira Emig Zinn, daughter of Jacob Raffensperger Zinn and Elizabeth Emig.[3] They had children:
