Charles-André Bertrand est né à l'hôpital Sainte-Justine à Montréal le 11 septembre 1960. Il a grandi à Laval-des-Rapides jusqu'au divorce de ses parents en 1971. Il a fréquenté les écoles primaires suivantes: D'argenteuil, ( 1è à 4è année ) Ste-Marguerite ( 5è et 6è ), Legrand ( Sec 1-2 ), Mont-de-la-Salle ( Sec 3-4-5 ), CEGEP Montmorency ( DEC GÉNÉRALE sc humaines ) et L'UQAM ( Bac, Sc.Politique 1983 et Bac Marketing 1986 ). Il a plus tard complété ( 2010 ) une license commerciale de pilote d'avion. Il a travaillé dans une épicerie ( Steinberg ) pendant 10 ans pour payer ses études, voyagé, puis été représentant des ventes pour Nestlé, Ciba-Geigy et Beckton-Dickinson de 1987 à 1990. Après une mise-à-pied lors d'une réorganisation de la force de vente chez BD, il a entrepris une carrière en cinéma en commençant comme comédien pour ensuite travailler comme Assistant Réalisateur et Chef Accessoiriste sur des productions américaines et il a aussi réalisé un court métrage intitulé Oh! Ciel!
