Biography

Second in the family, he studied until 11 years old at rang Saint-Joseph school. Then, he continued his study in the village of Saint-Alban, for 2 years, with the sisters of Notre-Dame-du Perpetuel-Secours, then 2 other years in Sainte-de-la-Perade, with the Freres du Sacre-Coeur. . He finally completed his training in the last two years in telegraphy in 1913 at the age of 17 he began his career in Ontario for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, first as an assistant agent, then as a telegraph operator. he worked there until August 1918, he returned to Quebec perfectly bilingual on August 6, 1918, he was found at La Tuque where he had just entered the service of the Canadian National, also as a telegraph operator until 1923 nine children were born from their union. First of all, while they still lived in La Tuque, the oldest, Rolland, was born on July 7, 1922, in Saint-Alban in the house of Theodule Bertrand and Lucia Savard.

in 1923, the couple left for Windigo, a village of about fifteen families, 45 miles north of La Tuque, for the works of the pulp and paper company Brown Corporation. he was first an accountant and then chief accountant. once settled in Windigo, was born Mariette, in the house of Desiree Perron and Josephine Marcotte. Then, it was the arrival of the two twins, Roslyn and Marie, who died at birth. Then, still during the 1st stay in Windigo, was born in Saint-Alban, to the parents of the mother, Rosaline, and Pierrette. The economic crisis of 1929 forced the Brown Corp. to close the village of Windigo from the summer of 1930 until 1934. As the company wanted to keep Joseph in its service, it transferred him to Trois-Pistoles, in Bas-Saint-Laurent, between Riviere-du-Loup and Rimouski . While the couple lived in Trois-Pistoles were born two other children, still in Saint-Alban, under the mother's parents, namely Jean-Noel, and Rodrique on February 1, 1946, the family of Joseph and Rose definitively left Windigo and Brown Corp. for Shawinigan. Joseph had just joined forces with his brother-in-law, Joseph-Hermenegilde Savard, husband of his sister Gerardine, to jointly manage the Saint-Maurice Automobile garage in Shawinigan in 1947, Joseph acquired a charming residence in Shawinigan-Sud where he died 2 years later, at the age of 52 years old regrets his family and the community in which he generously committed himself.
