Your great grandmother Hazel was visiting her big sister (my grandmother Anaise) in Corsicana when a tornado suddenly came up in the oil field area where Anaise lived with her husband and 3 young children. The sisters and children were huddled inside but Anaise's husband ran out to secure a washtub that was blowing around. When he did, the tornado picked him up and dropped him, breaking his back and causing his death not long after. My grandmother Anaise was pregnant with her 4th child (my daddy) but was too far along to return home, so she stayed in Corsicana until after her baby was born. Your great grandmother stayed with her, helping her with the children and household chores. There was always an exceptionally strong bond, not only between those 2 sisters, but also between my daddy and your great grandmother. He adored her. Daddy was born in 1925, and now almost 100 years later, 2 great grandchildren of those sisters happened to be in the same class, and because of facebook met each other.
