Biography

Josephine had come to Melbourne with her mother and sisters; and had married Charles Bright in 1859. Josephine and Charles were divorced in 1883. She returned to live in London sometime before 1888 when her daughter Ethel was married in Melbourne: ANDERSON —BRIGHT. —On the 27th inst., by special license, at Christ Church, St. Kilda, by the Rev. Stanley Low, George Staniford, eldest son of the late George Anderson, Esq., of Castlemaine, Victoria, to Ethel, daughter of Mrs. J. Bright, of 58 York-terrace, York-gate, London. No cards. "The NewYork "Daily News' of the 27th November has the following in reference to a well-known Australian journalist and lecturer: In the Supreme Court to-day, Mrs Josephine Bright was granted by Judge Donohue an absolute divorce from her husband, Charles Bright, and the custody of the children was awarded to her. Mr Bright made no appearance or defence, though duly served with the papers. Mr Bright is the lecturer from Australia who figured prominently as a speaker and lecturer at the Freethinkers' Convention at Watkin's Glen last summer."

Park ; loved aunt of Nellie Kerr-Friedman, and H. J. Kerr, architect, of P.W.D. ; and Councillor H. Charles Kerr, of Fremantle, W.A., and Mrs. Gordon Heller, Matlock, Bath, Derbyshire, England.
