Thomas Berwick and his wife Ann have been associated as the parents of Grace (_____) Ballard, but her parentage is unknown or unproven.
Thomas Berwick AKA Barwick, Berwyck was born about 1594 in Bristol, England.[1] His father was Francis Berwick. He married Ann Blount about 1616 in Bristol.[2]
The previous profile reported a birth pace of "Bristol, Gloucester, England." Bristol was in Gloucestershire until 1373, when it became a county, so unclear whether the town or the county is meant by "Bristol." His daughter was christened in a church in the town of Bristol, so using Bristol, county Bristol, England as birth place.
Thomas married to Ann (commonly called Ann Blount),[citation needed] although most sources report that the wife of Thomas Berwick only as Ann ______. Unclear where the maiden name, Blount. origiated.[citation needed]
Thomas and Ann Barwick had a daughter, Grace, christened at St. Mary Le Port Church, Bristol, county Bristol, England. [3]
Some researchers (ie: Hodden writing for The Essex Genealogist,) believe Grace was the wife of William Ballard of Andover.[4] According to Hodden, Grace was "of Newbury," Massachusetts when she married William Ballard.[4]
Death. The previous profile reported a death place of probably Andover, Massachusetts. Evidence of his immigration and death details are needed.[citation needed]
Ancestry.com There is at least one post[citation needed] at Ancestry.com about Francis Blount mentioning a daughter Ann and granddaughters, Anne and Grace (Barwicke), and their father, Thomas.
Unfortunately, it does not provide a link to the source (a will) but from the detail, it appears that a will does exist and could provide a lot of information, if found. The post describes Francis as "of Bristol, England, who was an ironmonger. He was the son of John and Jane (Lacy) Blount of St. Peters, Bristol. He married Margaret Hanbury, daughter of William Hanbury of St. Philips; she was born in 1580 and died in 1630. Francis' will was made Oct. 27, 1628 ...."
Barwicke-Ballard-Blunt The assertion of a Barwicke-Ballard connection may trace to the marriage of William Ballard's daughter Elizabeth's marriage to William Blunt (1642-1709) of Andover. Online trees connect them as cousins through naming Ann Blount/Blunt as Grace (Barwick) Ballard's mother. All these connections need to be researched and proven, but its another thread that should be followed up on. See Early Records of the Blunt Family of Bristol
