He died on board a ship on the 1st of October, 1918, and documentation would be completed to bring the body back to DeKalb[1].
He would be buried on the 9th of October, 1918, in the Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in DeKalb County, Tennessee[2]
