↑Obituary:Freeman's Journal (Sydney, NSW : 1850 - 1932) Sat 19 Nov 1853 Page 5 THE SOUTHERN DISTRICTS: Wagga Wagga November 3. — It is now five weeks since Mr. Robert Holt Best, a native of the colony, the proprietor of, and residing on a station in this neighbourhood, left home attended by his stockman, to proceed into the bush in quest of cattle, and when about two miles distant was thrown from his horse and killed on the spot, and thus society lost a valuable member. He left an afflicted wife and ten children. He was a kind husband and an affectionate father, a bright and shining example of every virtue which gives a lustre to those sacred names. Mr. Best's remains were consigned to the grave attended by our respected magistrate, Mr. Church, the Rev. Mr. Fitzgerald, and a large assemblage of the most respectable inhabitants, whose tears and regrets evinced the estimation in which his character was held by all classes of the community around.
