Biography

Harold was born Dec 14, 1915, in Benson, Swift County, Minnesota, the son of Ira Best and Viola Young Best. He passed away Apr. 16, 1982. I only met Harold once even though he was my uncle. I am doing this from memory but I think I remember he had been in a severe car accident and had severe health issues after that. He was married to Ellen Mary Burgess but I have not found or remember that they had any children. He died at age 67.

In 1920, Harold and his family lived in Camp Lake, Swift County, Minnesota.[1] In 1930, they lived in Benson Township, Swift County, Minnesota.[2]

Harold married Ellen Mary Burgess July 11, 1937, in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, South Dakota. In 1940, they lived in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, South Dakota. Harold was employed as a cook at a hotel. Ellen did housework in a private home. They lodged with Katie Schaetzel.[3] They had four children in the 1940s.

Harold and Ellen were frequently listed in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota, City Directory. Harold was an office clerk, working for various enterprises.[4]

Harold passed away April 16, 1982, in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, South Dakota.[5] He is buried in Hills of Rest Memorial Park, Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, South Dakota.[6]
