Life around the Hub - Sandford - A number of his young friends pent a pleasant evening at the home of Milton Best on Friday and presented him with an address, a dressing case and a gold mounted fountain pen. John Flumerfelt was master of ceremonies, and the address was read and the presentation was made by Messrs. Stead and Davis. Mr. Best left Sunday morning for the West. He was deservedly popular among the young people and will be greatly missed.

Mount Albert News - A family party was held on Saturday evening at the home of Mr. Milton Best near Sandford when he was host at a turkey supper to his sisters and their families. present were Mr. and Mrs. B. Stiver, Mrs. Fred Watts, both of Mount Albert, Mr. and Mrs. J. Mairs, Souris, Man., Mr. and Mrs. W. Otto, Haliburton, and Mrs. Perry man, Toronto. Seventeen in all enjoyed a lovely supper and reunion.

Obituaries - Mrs. Miriam Cain - Mrs. Miriam Cain, Mount Albert, died on Wednesday, Aug. 26, after an illness of three years. She was born in Scott township in 1872, the daughter of the late Jane Marks and Enos Lundy. She married Albert Cain in 1896.
Mrs. Cain attended the United church. Her chief interest was her home.
Surviving are three daughters, May (Mrs. Sam Sockum), Bethany; Edna (Mrs. Clarence Brown), Siloam, Miriam Cain, Mount Albert; a number of newphews and nieces, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her husband predeceased her in 1933.
The funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. Thornloe on Sunday, Aug. 30, at Sandford church. pallbearers were Herbert Pipher, Wilfred Dike, W. R. Steeper, Milton Best, Ross Johnson and Frank Brow. Flower bearers were Morley Smockum, Ross Smockum, Harold Brown, Maurice Gallagher and Stanley Merrick. Interment was at Sandford Cemetery.

Those present were Mrs. Llewellyn Best from Palo Alto and son Merton from San Francisco, Cal.; Mrs. Walker Kydd and son Ellsworth and family, Sunderland; Mrs. Percy Perryman and son Lloyd and friend, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Byron Stiver; Mrs. Fred Watts and two grandsons, Billy and Bobby May, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stiver, all of Mount Albert; Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Otto, Haliburton; Mr. and Mrs. David Ciglen and family, Meaford; Mr. and Mrs. C. Wild (formerly Mrs. Roy Best), Toronto; Mrs. Hazel Thompson, Uxbridge; Mrs. Alexander, Toronto, and Mrs. Thompson, Ottawa.

Milton was buried at Sandford Community Cemetery, Sandford, Durham Regional Municipality, Ontario, Canada.
