Clyde, son of Romanzo Elliott "Rome" Best and Mina Sophia Moore, was born 28 April 1888 in Prescott, Ogemaw County, Michigan.^[1][2][3][4]

1900 owned farm in Richland Township, Ogemaw, Michigan Romanzo Best (age 42, farmer) Mina S. Best (36, mother of 10, eight living), Zina Leonard (16), Martha Louise (14), Clyde Elliott (12), Benjamin Oakley (11), Edith May (7), Mary J. (6), Anson Wilber (2) and Agnes (1).^[3]
