Biography

John Best was baptised in Bodmin on 28 March 1683 to John Best and Unknown mother in Bodmin, Cornwall England if the birth dates of his children (1708-1748) are correct. I found two other possibilities; the son of Richard and Joan (22 Jun 1685) and the son of Henry and Grace (5 Jun 1688), but since none of his children were given these names, and his first son was named John, I think the first possibility is most likely.^[1] It is likely that this John died in 1756 ^[2]Although Ann Harris Best is listed as his wife, she was probably the mother of only William, Elizabeth and Mary based on their dates of birth. IGI private entries also give another child James, who died in 1740.^[3][4][5]
