Oscar Roland Bethune was born in 1902. He was the son of George Maximilian Bethune and his wife Elizabeth de Burgh O'Maley. In 1911 he was with the rest of the family, bar his sister Eleanor, in Lowestoft.[1] A career officer in the Indian Army, he was killed in action on the North-West Frontier in 1937.[2][3][4]
