Benjamin Betterton was born on December 02, 1737 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[1][2]

His parents were Benjamin Betterton and Mary Thompson.

He married Rebecca Harvey on September 06, 1759 in Christ Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States[3]

He died on April 10, 1786 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States[4]

Public Service

He occupied an important position in the colonial government of the Province of Pennsylvania because he signed the bank notes of that English privince. One note, held in the Pennsylvania Historical Society is of two shillings denomination dated April 25, 1776. Another note which was in the possession of Elizabeht C. Foreman in 1933, is of eight shilling denomination dated April10, 1777.[5]
