Lelia was born in 1872. She was the daughter of Andrew Betts and Josephine Jones.
She married Hugh Walter Shealy. Together they had two infant deaths but no living children.
She died, at the age of 25, on May 2, 1898 in Shady Grove, Alabama. She is buried at the Shady Grove Community Cemetery, Opelika, Lee County, Alabama.[1]
