Elijah Betts was born 5 June 1745 in Wilton, Connecticut. [1] [2] He passed away before August 1800 also in Wilton, Connecticut. [1] [2] His will was dated 1792 so he may have been ill for some time. He was living in Greenwich, Connecticut in 1790. [3]

Elijah Betts was married to Adah Taylor around January 1768 in Fairfield, Fairfield, Connecticut. They had fourteen (14) children:

Military Service

Elijah Betts was a soldier of the American Revolution. He served as a private in the Light Horse Regiment under Major Ezra Starr and patrolled the coast. He also served in Connecticut's 5th Regiment under Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Sherman and Captain William Richard. He is on record as having drawn pay from November 1781 to December 1781 for services rendered during the American Revolution.
