According to the 1900 Census, John age 11 and two of his cousins were living with their paternal grandparents, John and Christina Betz, both German immigrants.
From the death index, John must have changed the spelling of his last name slightly to Betts. His first name, middle initial and birthdate match my information on him. Also, he was buried in the same county as his parents.
