Biography

From his obituary:

"Raymond Lee Beuhring, Republican of Huntington, a delegate from Cabell county, was born at Decatur, Alabama, on August 1, 1891; moved to Huntington when one year old; educated in the public schools there; graduated from Marshall College in 1910 and from Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Virginia, in 1914, with the degree of LL. B.; is a practicing attorney at Huntington; fullback four years on Washington and Lee University football team and was known as "Cannonball" Beuring; all Southern fullback; lieutenant Sixteenth Infantry, First Division, in World War I, servicing in all major engagement, in which he was twice wounded and received two citations in order for action on front; Mason, Shrinker, Elk, Pi Kappa Alpha and Delta Theta Psi Fraternities; Presbyterian; served in 1929 session as chairman of the Committee on Counties, Districts and Municipal Corporations and as a member of the Committees on the Judiciary, Military Affairs and Executive Offices and Library." -

Raymond was the son of Lee Beuhring and Mamie Hovey. At one year old, he moved with his family to Huntington, West Virginia.

In 1910, Raymond graduated from Marshall College. In 1914, Raymond graduated from Washington and Lee University. By 1914, he was a practicing attorney in Huntington, West Virginia.

As his obituary states, he was known as "Cannonball" Beuhring. He was all Southern fullback.

On April 20, 1921, Raymond married Dorothea Sandman in Lawrence, Ohio. They spent their life in Huntington, West Virginia.

Raymond served in World War I and rose to the rank of second lieutenant. He served in the 16th Infantry, First Division. He was awarded with the Silver Star and Purple Heart.

Raymond was a Mason, Shriner and Elk, according to his obituary.

Raymond died on December 30, 1970 in Huntington, West Virginia. He is buried at Spring Hill Cemetery in Huntington, West Virginia.
