Biography

Frederick was born May 7, 1908. His specific birth date is found on Find A Grave. He was the adopted son of Francis Beveridge who was a prosperous and prominent businessman. Unfortunately the family has not been found for the 1911 Canada census which would show whether Frederick and his siblings had been adopted at that time. The family lived in a mansion at 304 - 1st Ave N.E.

Fred's mother Etta died in 1920. Besides being a businessman, his father was also a judge of the juvenile court. In 1925 Fred had a job as "commr Juvenile Court," as can be seen below in the 1925 Henderson directory entry. But after his father died in 1926, Fred's usual occupation was auto mechanic. By 1928 Fred and his brothers had moved out of the family home.

Fred married Mary Hoffner in 1931. Her parents were Germans from Russia who had also settled in the neighborhood of Bridgeland-Riverside. Fred and Mary had no children and moved frequently throughout the inner city.

Fred died in 1967 and is buried Union Cemetery. Mary died in 1995.
