Janet was born on the 17 March 1838 in the Hamlet of Mid Duloch, south of the Village of Crossgates, and north of the Town of Inverkeithing, in the Parish of Dalgety, Fife, Scotland[1]. She was the daughter of Coal Miner, James (Beveridge) and Margaret (Penman), who married on the 3 March 1832 at the Dalgety Parish Chapel, north of the Village of Bankhead, in the Parish of Dalgety, Fife, Scotland[2].
William (Muirlong) marries Janet (Beveridge) on the 27 August 1858 in the City of Dunfermline, on high ground 3 miles (5 km) from the northern shore of the Firth of Forth, in the Parish of Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland.

On the night of the Census Record of 1841, Janet is residing with her parents James (Beveridge) and Margaret (Penman); siblings Margaret, George and James (Beveridge) and 86 year old, Isabel (Robertson). Their residence is located in the Hamlet of Mid Duloch, south of the Village of Crossgates, and north of the Town of Inverkeithing, in the Parish of Dalgety, Fife, Scotland[4]. By 1851, she is out of the family home and working for Master Baker (employing 4 men & 2 women), James (Kinnear); his wife, Jean (Kinnear); their children William, Isabella and Alexander (Kinnear); Bakers/Servants, Peter (Lessels) and Alexander (Glen); Apprentice Baker, Robert (Ferguson); James (Kinnear's) widowed sister-in-law, Marion (Kinnear) and his grandson William (Davidson). They are living at High Street, in the coastal Village of Linktown, south of the Town of Kirkcaldy, Parish of Abbotshall, in Fife, Scotland[5].
By 1861, William (Muirlong) has married Janet (Beveridge) and they are living with children Margaret and Alexander (Muir) at Springhill, Village of Crossgates, Dalgety, Fife[6]. He and Janet are still in Springhill, Dalgety, Fife with the Census of 1871 and their children Margaret, Alexander, James, John and Janet (Muir) reside with them[7].
With the Census Record of 1851, Janet is employed as a Household Servant with the Kinnear family.
Janet (Beveridge) passes away on the 7 February 1873 at 6.00 pm at Springhill, in the Village of Crossgates, east of the City of Dunfermline, in the Parish of Dalgety, Fife, Scotland. She was 35 years old at the time and dies from Phthisis (Pulmonary Tuberculosis) - 15 months. Her brother-in-law, Thomas (Muir) is present at the death and informant[8].
