Research Notes

Estimated date: Birth of May 7, 1663 in Hull, Yorkshire, England is based on an article in the Encyclopedia Virginia that cites "Saint Mary Lowgate Parish Record". Birth information in the datafields for Beverly-14 had been 1668 in Elmington, Gloucester County, Virginia, but had no text in bio to support it. Birth was changed to 1667 based on Find a Grave, but the memorial for Peter (since deleted) did not include a picture of the tombstone or sources, and noted "Burial: Unknown." Original birth info for Beverley-80 was 1668 in Jamestown, James, Virginia and marriage as 1689, Gloucester Co., Virginia (citing Family Tree files submitted by Ancestry members). Wikidata had 1668 with no citation as of August 27, 2017.

update: merge completed

Hi Cary! I haven't heard back from you, so I'll complete the merge retaining Elizabeth as Peter's mother (instead of Mary.

Cheers, Liz

Peter is not the son of Mary. Peter is the son of Elizabeth, who died after Peter’s birth in England

Hi! I'd like to resolve the different mothers before merging. It's been a while since I've worked on Peter's profile, but the link you give for his Find a Grave memorial (which has no sources for the information it gives) led to the profile for Mary his wife that includes "She is buried in Christ Church Yard, Middlesex, and the slab over her grave states:

Heare lyeth interred the Bodi of Mrs. Mary Beverly, wife of Major Robert Beverly. Mother of nine sons, and three daughters. Who departed this Life the 1st Day of June 1678 aged fortie one yeares & three Monthes, Having been married to him 12 years & 2 months-and was A careful Mother . . ."

See info in Beverley-80 - in particular my comment: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Beverley-80#n1386479 (and earlier ones)

Beverley-136 and Beverley-80 appear to represent the same person because: same person

I was convinced that the Peter who married Elizabeth Peyton was the son born to Elizabeth May 7, 1663. But. Did he not survive? Was Mary the mother of a second Peter (born 1667/68) who married Elizabeth Peyton? I can't tell from the information given by Evans (source for 1663 birth): e.g., "...Robert Beverley the immigrant...and Mary Keeble Beverley had from four to six sons, of whom three survived childhood, and one daughter. Mary...died in June 1678, and he married Katherine Hone on March 28, 1679. They had three sons and one daughter. Beverley sent his sons to England to be educated, and the three eldest among those who lived to adulthood, Peter Beverley..."

Still am convinced, I think. Just not sure.

Having put together a bio, decided it best to disconnect image of Elizabeth Peyton, Peter Beverly's wife (Image:Beverley-61.jpg.) because it is from a Virginia Historical Society publication and marked "Virginia Historical Society - do not use without permission"

using the image tag included here - it would be recoverable to use in Elizabeth Peyton's profile if wanted

note : attached image is portrait of Elizabeth (Peyton) Beverley 1691-1723 (Beverley-13)

NOTE: The text on this portrait reads "Virginia Historical Society - do not use without permission" best to disconnect it altogether ?

Beverly-14 and Beverley-80 appear to represent the same person because: same name, same birth (different places given) same death & place of death

Beverley-80 is unconnected so no problem adjusting that profile for accuracy

based on that note on Robert Beverly's page... This Peter was born 1663, to Elizabeth (unk), in England: "Sometime before 1662 he married a woman named Elizabeth, whose maiden name is not known. Their only known child, Peter Beverley, was christened in Saint Mary Lowgate on May 7, 1663, two days before the burial of Elizabeth Beverley."
