Albert was "Killed In Action" when his B-17 was attacked by German aircraft and crashed in Lummen, six miles east of Deist, Belgium on August 17, 1943.
Albert served his country as a top turret gunner on the B-17F "Dear Mom" #42-30389, 331st Bomber Squadron, 94th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.
