World War One

Charles was born in 1874. He is the son of Carl Biber and Mary Madden. In 1900, Charles married Rebecca Martin in Melbourne and they had six children, finally settling in Sydney, New South Wales.[1] Charles served in the AIF during WW1 and was discharged (as medically unfit) in Perth, Western Australia in 1917. However, he did not return to his wife and six children in Sydney. Instead, he entered into a defacto relationship in WA with Violet Ablett and had a further four children. [The first two of these children were named Dorothy and Phyllis, the same names as the eldest daughters of his original marriage.] Charles passed away in 1946 in South Fremantle, WA,[2] and is buried in the Fremantle Cemetery (Area: Anglican, Section: MON A7, Plot: 0139).
