Biography

Josiah Emmert Bible was born on February 24, 1835 in Coshocton, Coshocton County, Ohio.[1] He was the son of Jacob Bible and Elizabeth Ritchey[2]

He was married to Caroline Elizabeth Walker on 21 June 1860 in Coshocton county, Ohio.[3] She was the daughter of Adam Fletcher Walker (1819-1859) of Oxford township and Mary Ann Kay (1820-1855) of Tuscarawas township, both in Coshocton county.

Josiah served as a private in Company E of the 142nd Regiment, Ohio Infantry in the Civil War.[4]

His household contained all eight of his children in 1880, when they were living in Bethel of McDonough county in Illinois.[5] Ella 19, Ida 17, Ulysses 16, Merietta 14, Harry 12, Willie 10, Josiah and Daniel, both age 6.

Josiah passed away on November 18, 1897 at the age of 62.[1][6] His burial was in the Archer-Bethel Cemetery at Fandon in McDonough county, Illinois.[7] His gravestone inscription only has his name with birth and death years. He also has a military service stone inscribed, "CO. E 142 OHIO INF."
