WORKER KILLED Philip Bible, 38, Victim of Electric Shock in Scott's Crossing Mishap Philip Bible, 38, of Lima Route 3, Ohio Power Co., lineman, died shortly after noon Sunday in St. Rita's hospital of electric shock. Bible came in contact with a high voltage wire while at work near Scott's Crossing. Bible came in contact with the wire, co-workers explained, after he had climbed a pole to make repairs. He had fastened his safety belt, which prevented his falling to the ground, but a terrific surge of current kept him from breaking contact with the wire. Fellow linemen rushed to his assistance and applied artificial respiration. Bible was hurried to the hospital where doctors and hospital attendants labored unceasingly for hours to bring back life. Born in Bath-tp, where he attended school, Bible had spent most of his life in the Allen-co district. For many years he had made his home in Route 3, at Cole-st and Sherman-av. As a lineman he had been in the employ of the power company for about 13 years. Bible enlisted in the U.S. navy in January, 1917, at Cincinnati. He saw service during the World war as a fleet fireman first class. He was in service for four years. An active memeber of the Edward J. Veasey post, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bible also belonged to the Navy-Marine-assn. Bible attended services at the Congregational-Christian church. Surviving are his widow, Hazel; three daughters; two sons; his father, J.G. Bible; two sisters, Mrs. Erma Stayer and Miss Ruth Bible; and five brothers, Leo F., Elmer, Dale R., and Carl Bible. Harold Bible prominent former Central high school athlete, was a cousin of Philip Bible. Arrangements are being completed to have a military guard of honor and funeral escort for the funeral of Bible. His body has been taken from the Davis, Miller and Son funeral home to the Cole-st and Sherman-av residence, but will be returned to the mortuary chapel for a service to be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Harlan J. Miller will administer the last rites. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. Coroner Harry Lewis Monday said he probably would return a verdict of accidental death by electrocution, but was conducting an investigation.
