Notes

Note N1222According to Paul Jared Bickel's memo of 1932 to Melba Homewood (note that Paul was a scion of Amandon Bickel):
As the compiler of these notes is a descendant of Anthony through Joseph, then Jared, then Amandon, and knows many of his living descendants in Berks County, Pennsylvania, we have more complete information as to his descendants that of any other son of the first Tobias, but there are nevertheless many "blind spots", even here.
Anthony lived on the half of the old homestead which he received from Tobias. He is probably buried at North Heidelberg Church, we have not found his grave. He married Magdalena Romig. He took the Oath of Allegiance on May 20, 1778. Joseph Bickel was the third child of Anthony and Anna.
Joseph Bickel, born May 11, 1785, died March 18, 1853, married to Catherine Sohl. Both were buried at North Heidelberg Church. Her tombstone says she had 8 sons and 6 daughters. We have record of only 6 sons and 4 daughters. He lived on the old homestead. He has many living descendants in Berks County and elsewhere.
