Biography

About the family surname: The official birth and death records for the senior Hugh Bicket (1815-1904) record his surname spelling as Bicket, and the family is identified as the 'E' Branch at the yDNA-based Bicket Group of One-Name Studies.[1]Hugh Francis 'Fitch' Bicket (1849-1920) is recorded in all but one record as 'Becket(t)', while his youngest brother Henry (1875-1966) appears in all but 1 record as 'Bicket(t)'. This variation appears among all members of the family over time. To have all family members of this generation appear as 'Bicket' in DNA comparisons, it is suggested to enter each of them by using that spelling as the Surname at Birth.
