Biography

Note: This is the Dewalt Bieber that married Maria. The other Dawald Bieber (1792-) was almost the same age, also lived in Berks County, Pennsylvania, but married a Catherine.

Dewalt L Bieber was born on the 6th of April 1792 in Rockland Township, Berks, Pennsylvania.[1], son of Jacob Bieber Jr. and Esther (Lescher) Bieber.[2][3] His siblings were:

  5. Marie Elizabeth (Bieber) Fenstermacher
  6. Sarah Bieber

Dewalt L married Maria Barbara Angstadt. They had twelve known children.

Dewalt L died on the 19th of January 1878 in Oley Township, Pennsylvania, aged 85.[6] He died intestate, but has a lengthy probate file in Berks County. Among the files was a list of his heirs: Jacob, William, Nathan, Esther (wife of John Schaffer), Daniel, Samuel, Abraham, Elizabeth (married to Levi Angstadt), and Mary Hauck.[7] Catherine and Magdalena predeceased him. There is no mention of a Benneville, though he is in an earlier census record.

1812-1815 Soldier: Dewald Beiber [Dawalt Beaver] Capt Ritter/Col George Schall Widow: Mariee Marriage Date: Sep 1813 Date Enlisted: 1 Sep 1814 Date Discharged: 4 Dec 1814 Soldier's Death Date: 1877 Military Service Location: Pennsylvania In 1878 a document was found from his estate which was dated Aug 1 1814, which was a draft notice to report for duty by Aug 9 with the 69th Regt under Col George Schall. He reported by that date and served until the end of war.
