Research Notes
Nurse Child is now known as a Foster child. A Nurse child was a child cared for by a family member or neighbour for a small amount of money, when the child could not be cared for by his/her parent(s).
After studying the various members of the Biggs families, it has become apparent that the most likely mother of Ernest is Hetty Biggs. Hetty would have been 20 years old when Ernest was born and unmarried. Hetty married 19 years later by which time Ernest would have reached 19 years and was supporting himself. His father will probably never be known for certain.
