Charlotte died in the second quarter of 1840 aged 48 years[8]. In the 1841 Census he was living at Roy's Farm, Soberton, Hampshire with his children - Henry (25), Mercy (22), Thomas (19), Stephen (15), Jedidiah (12), David (10), Joseph (8), and Charlotte (5)[9][10]. He was a carpenter aged 48. No doubt his elder daughter was looking after the house and younger children.
He married Jane Adams in the third quarter of1848 at Droxford[11]. In 1851 he was living with his wife Jane (58) and his children - Jedidiah (22), Joseph (18), and Charlotte (14) - at Soberton, Hampshire[12]. He was a carpenter aged 58 born at Winchester, Hampshire .
By 1861 the children had left home, and he was living with his wife Jane (68) and an apprentice carpenter, John Dicker (16) at the road leading to the Village, Soberton, Hambledon, Hampshire[13]. He was a carpenter aged 68 and was born in Soberton as was his wife. In 1871 they were still living in Soberton at Soberton Lane but their granddaughter Jane Adams (13) was with them[14][15]. He was a retired wheelwright, aged 78 and born in Itchen Abbas, Hampshire, and his wife was aged 80 and born in West Meon, Hampshire
Thomas died in 1872 aged 79 at Droxford, Hampshire[16] and his death was registered in the second quarter[17].
Research Notes
There is probably more than one Thomas Bignell about this time as I have found two different suggested dates of birth. I have assumed this is the correct Thomas as he was born in the same place as George.
