Biography

William was born 14 February 1816. He was the son of John Quick Bignell and Elizabeth Brown. [1] [2]

In 1842, he was working as a Public Notary, single, and living Notre-Dame, Quebec City, Quebec. [3]

On 12 September 1843, at the age of 27, he married Emma Palmer Shaw, aged 18, in the Wesleyan Methodist Church, Quebec City, Quebec. [4] Together the couple had 15 children.

In 1851, at the age of 36, he was a Notary, living in Quebec City, with his wife (Emma), Peter Shaw (Law Student, possible brother in law) and children (Emma, Annie, William, Henry and Jessie). [5]

In 1861, at the age of 45, he was a Notary, living in Quebec City (Montcalm Ward), with his wife (Emma) and children (Wm., Annie, Jessie, Charles, Favie, and Arthur) [6]

In 1871, at the age of 55, he was a Notary Public, living in Quebec City (Montcalm Ward), with his wife (Emma) and children (Annie, Jessie, Charles, Arthur, Grace, Edward, Herbert, Etties and Florence), [7]

In 1881, at the age of 66, he was living in Quebec City (Montcalm Ward), with his wife (Emma) and children (Annie, Arthur, Grace, Herbert, Ella and Florence). [8]

In 1891, at the age of 75, he was a Notary, living in Quebec City (Montcalm West Ward), with his wife (Emma) and children (Annie, Charles, Arthur, Edward Grace, Herbert, Ethel and Florence). [9]

William Bignell passed away 21 June 1895, aged 79. He was buried 24 June 1895 in Mount Hermon Cemetery, Sillery, Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. [10]
