Biography

Azema Bijeau, daughter of Ursin Bijeau and Magdeleine Richard, was born on 15 June 1815 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. She was baptized on 9 April 1820 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Grand Coteau. Her godparents were Placide Guilbau and Sidalize Cormier. Father Hercule Brassac performed the ceremony.[1]

She married Edmond Valsin Patin, son of Joseph Patin and Julienne Robichaud, on 4 May 1835 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish.[2]

They had 11 known children:

Azema died about 1870. Her succession was filed at the St. Martinville Parish courthouse on 1 December 1870.[3]
