Hy boer op Babylons Toren in die Drakenstein en op Vredenburg (langs Libertas) naby Stellenbosch. Hy het ook saam met sy vader op die plaas Varietas geboer. Hy dien op die kerkraad van die Stellenbosch gemeente van die Nederduitsch Gereformeerde Kerk as diaken en as ouderling. Hy was ook 'n Heemraad. W. A. van der Stel het hom een van die groot grondbesitters genoem. [3][6]
