"Biles was elected to the Arizona State House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1954, officially taking his seat at the beginning of the following year. His service in the house extended for nearly two decades, and during that time Biles earned a reputation as one of Arizona's "most powerful legislators." During his lengthy term of service Biles held a seat on numerous legislative committees, and the following is a listing on those which he served: Chairman of the House Appropriations committee, chairman of the Fish and Game committee, chairman of the Advisory committee on Indian Affairs, vice chairman of the Tourist and Industry Development committee. In addition to serving as a chairman or vice-chairman, Biles was named to numerous other house committees, including the committee on Labor, Livestock and Public Lands, Public Health, Education, Judiciary, Rules, Municipalities, Transportation, Ways and Means, Highway Fact Finding, and lastly, Commerce and Industry."[2] ["http://azmemory.azlibrary.gov/cdm/ref/collection/histphotos/id/16561">Photograph/collage/photomechanical reproduction of the 22nd Arizona State House of Representatives in Phoenix (Ariz.)] 1955-56. The Biles-Byles Family, How Green Was Our Valley. Author: Bryan W. Biles. Privately published USA, copyright applied for 1969, Page 254 contains incorrect information regarding the ancestry of Lillian Pinckney Biles. This book states that "Lillian is a direct descendant of Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, who was a member of the cabinet of John Quincy Adams, as well as Thomas Pinckney and Charles Pinckney, whose names may be found in the encyclopedia." Of course, this information is incorrect, and should be disregarded. The correct genealogy for Lillian Pinckney Biles can be found in records such as is recorded here at wikitree, as well as the book by Mary Pinckney Powell: Back Over Home - The Heritage of Pinckneys of Pinckney Colony, Bluffton, South Carolina.
