Lieut Jonathan Billings performed Patriotic Service in Massachusetts in the American Revolution.
Jonathan Billings was born at Concord, Massachusetts on August 3, 1709, son of Samuel Billings and Mary Barron. [1]
Jonathan, then of Acton, Massachusetts married Dorothy Brooks on February 12, 1735/6. Dorothy was born at Concord on January 4, 1771/8, daughter of Joshua Brooks and Lydia Wheeler. [1]
1735/6: March 22: He was chosen surveyor of highways at Acton. [2]
1740: May 12: Chosen for the committee regarding finishing the Meeting house. [2]
1744: September: Served on the committee to assign seats in the Meeting house. [2]
1754: March 4: Lieut. Jonathan Billings was chosen constable. [2]
1759: March 5: Lieutenant Jonathan Billings chosen as selectman. [2]
1762: March 1: Chosen for the committee to the General Court. [2]
1763: Lieut. Jonathan Billings chosen surveyor of highways. [2]
1774: December: Jonathan was chosen as one of the members of the Committee of Correspondence at Acton. [3]
Jonathan died at Acton on March 11, 1783. [4] He is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Acton where his inscription reads: Erected in Memory of Lieut Jonathan Billings who departed this life March 11th 1783 in the 74th year of his age.[5]
