James Billington was born in 1792 in Johnston, North Carolina, the fifth son and fifth of twelve children of Ezekiel Billington Sr. (1759 - 1848) and Elizabeth (Penny) Billington (1760 - 1825). His siblings were:
James married Sarah Walker (1793 - 1862). He served in the War of 1812 and died in Marshall Co., TN, in 8-1866.
In the 1850 census James (age 57) was in Marshall, Tennessee, United States.[1]
In the 1860 census James (age 67) was at 8th District, Marshall, Tennessee, United States.[2] James died in 1866 in Marshall, Tennessee aged ~74.
