Census Information
The 1850 Census for Hertford, Perquimans County, North Carolina found Langley Billups, farmer with real estate valued at $1,400, age 32, with his wife, Martha, age 25, and their children: Thomas Billups, age 7 , Martha Billups, age 6, Sarah F Billups, age 3, Margaret A Billups, age 2, and Timothy Billups, age 0, all born at North Carolina.[6] Langley and Martha could read and write.[6]
Death and Legacy
Langley died in 1858 at Gates County (? unclear), North Carolina. During the next couple of years, Joseph R. Billups, as administrator, was asked to both collect and pay outstanding debts on the estate.[7]
