Biography

Thomas was born in 1858 in Chelsea, London, England to Henry Binden and Mary Mills. Baptism not in file. His Birth registration has not been found on freebmd.

In 1861, the family including Thomas can be found living at 3, James Street, Chelsea, London, England ^[1]. There are 8 family members in the household, 2 parents and 6 children.

Thomas' middle initial is shown as D on the 1861 census but his middle name is shown as Mills in the 1871 census.

In 1871, Thomas is living with his father and brother Robert at Peabody Buildings, West Block, Chelsea, London, England. His mother was staying with one of her daughters during this census. Thomas is shown as an errand boy by profession. ^[2]

In 1881, Thomas is boarding with the Larkin family (not related) at 70, Arthur Street, Chelsea, London, England and is a Carpenter by profession. ^[3]

Thomas can not be found in the 1891 and 1901 censuses, there was a Thomas David Binden died in 1891 aged 38 registered at Whitechapel, that could be this man. This Thomas David Binden was married in 1894 to either a Mary Brand or Alma Waschke in Mile End, London. Due to the sight difference in birth year and confusion over middle names, I have not added these details officially to this record. From freebmd it also looks like there may have been children born from that marriage and in 1891 there is a Emma Bindon with 3 young children that could perhaps of been Alma.
