Ernest was born in 1870[1] He was the son of Stephen Binfield and Lucy Woodford. He was living with his parents and siblings in St John, Huntingdonshire, England in 1871[2] He was still living with his parents and siblings at Martinsville, Hall, Nebraska, United States in 1880[3]
