Ernest was born in 1870^[1] He was the son of Stephen Binfield and Lucy Woodford. He was living with his parents and siblings in St John, Huntingdonshire, England in 1871^[2] He was still living with his parents and siblings at Martinsville, Hall, Nebraska, United States in 1880^[3]
