Born the son of Thomas Bingham (1730 – 1816) and Eleanor Luck (1752 – 1810), he was married first to Mary Bailey (1784 – 1819) and their children were

After Mary's death he married Benetta Skeen (1801 – 1875) and their children were

Elijah acquired Coweta County land from the Gold Land Lottery on 3-29-1827. The Binghams resided in the county until the late 1800's. They operated a mill around Moreland, Georgia.
