Research Notes

From the "Morning Journal and Courier," New Haven, CT, Nov. 23, 1880, p. 3,

A little boy about 8 years of age, son of Warren A. Bingham, tillerman of the hook-and-ladder company, Hartford, was run over yesterday morning at the corner of Asylum and Trumbull streets by a market wagon. Two of the wheels passed over the little fellow's back, and he was severely injured. [This article doesn't mention the boy's name, but based on his age, it must be Clinton.]

According to his World War I draft registration, he was short and stout, with brown eyes and brown hair. He listed Mrs. Georgia E. Kennedy, his sister, as his nearest relative.

According to the 1910 census, he had been married twice, the most recent for 7 seven years. His wife's name was listed separately, but on the same page.

In 1904, a Clinton O. Bingham was a drug clerk, living at 999 Main in Hartford.

From the "Norwich Bulletin," CT, Dec 24, 1910, p. 10,

Word was received that Clinton Bingham, formerly of this place, is just recovering from a severe attach of pleuro-pneumonia.
[same person?]

In 1916, a Clinton O. Bingham worked as a "collector" and lived at 5 School in Hartford. No wife listed.

From the "Hartford Courant," CT, April 9, 1921, p. 3,

Josephine Bingham, who lives in Hartford, was divorced from Clinton O. Bingham to whom she was married on December 26, 1903. Bingham was a registered druggist, and his wife testified that because of the excessive use of liquor he had lost positions in stores in this city, and other places, and she was forced to leave him because of the habit. He had recently been employed painting at the Hartford Hospital and she was told that last week he lost that place because of drink. On account of his intemperate habits he lost his pharmacy license, Judge Haines was told.

In 1928, a Clinton O. Bingham worked as a "pntr" and lived with Marie Clinton at 3 S Comley Av. in Hartford.

Could not find him in the 1920, 1930, and 1940 census.
